Yesterday, Treadwell representatives attended MGH's seventh annual College Fair to tell attendees about how the library can make going back to school easier for students at any level.
First, the library holds a number of resources on choosing a career in the health sciences. In terms of getting into school, we have TOEFL guides, an electronic GRE handbook, and multiple resources focusing on getting into (and surviving) medical school, many of which include information about the MCAT.
In addition to computer and internet access, a quiet study space and research support, we offer many resources to help students get through school. We have a number of writing guides, ranging from grammar for ESL students to guides to publishing in the health sciences; we also have a number of resources on presenting, a skill very highly valued in continuing education.
We also learned about other resources the hospital provides to employees looking to continue their education, particularly those associated with MGH's Training and Workforce Development program, who organized the fair; they offer ESL classes, courses to improve skills important in the workplace, educational grants and more.
Many of these resources continue to be useful to build skills useful beyond the classroom, and we hope you find them to be. As always, if you have questions about any of these materials or anything else the library can do for you, please get in touch!
