Twitter advanced search

On Monday, Twitter announced a more nuanced accounts search, which proves very useful when looking for people in your field to follow - with, say, a search for oncology or radiology, which turn up popular and prominent accounts in those fields.  To use this search function, enter terms in the search box above your feed:

and then navigate to the "People" tab of your search results, on the right.  Alternatively, you can go directly to the Who to Follow page and search there.

They also announced an advanced content search for searching for current information, which is much closer to the search functions you're used to using to find library resources but includes some social media-specific options, like the users involved and even an emoticon-oriented search!

We at Treadwell have written on both Twitter and medical libraries and Twitter's role at medical conferences, and are interested in social media's role in both health care and libraries.  Feel free to follow us on Twitter or get in touch with your thoughts!
